Fresh details have surfaced about CD Projekt Red’s mysterious Project Hadar, offering fans a glimpse into the studio’s next big original IP.
A new job listing reveals that the upcoming game will be an action RPG with a strong emphasis on melee combat.
The job ad, spotted by Tech4Gamers, is for a Senior Gameplay Designer with over five years of experience in developing RPGs or action titles, particularly those featuring close-quarters combat systems. This strongly hints that Project Hadar will deliver intense, up-close gameplay, distinguishing it from other CDPR titles.
While the rest of the posting doesn’t offer many surprises-mentioning familiarity with Unreal Engine 4 and 5-it does reinforce the studio’s commitment to Epic’s technology, previously confirmed as the foundation for all upcoming titles.
Project Hadar is one of several ambitious projects currently underway at CD Projekt Red. Alongside it is Project Orion, the anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and The Witcher 4, which is set to feature Ciri as the protagonist instead of Geralt of Rivia. This new Witcher game, first announced at The Game Awards, is being crafted with a console-first mindset to take full advantage of modern hardware.
While exact gameplay or story details for Project Hadar remain under wraps, if CDPR’s recent tech demo is anything to go by, the studio appears poised to surpass its previous works in both visual fidelity and gameplay innovation.
