Even more impressive? It’s compatible with the older M1 chips. But don’t get too excited unless your Mac has 16GB of unified RAM-this demanding title won’t even start on 8GB setups.

CD PROJEKT RED has fine-tuned the game to work with Apple’s Metal 4 API, bringing support for MetalFX upscaling, Frame Interpolation, and Denoising. That means smoother visuals and higher framerates, but at the cost of some input lag. Apple fans will appreciate the ‘for this Mac’ preset, which auto-optimizes graphics settings based on the chipset, making it easier to just jump in and play.

With AirPods, players will even get spatial audio and head tracking, adding to the immersive experience. And while the M4 Max can reportedly hit 120FPS, it’s only possible thanks to interpolation and upscaling. For reference, an RTX 4090 laptop runs the game at around 75–80FPS at max settings and path tracing, using DLSS and Frame Generation-so expect some trade-offs on the Mac side.

The game will be available through the Mac App Store, Steam, GOG.com, and Epic Games Store. While some are skeptical about how well the Mac version will actually sell, there’s no doubt that bringing such a massive title to Apple Silicon marks a bold new step for Mac gaming.
