DC and Warner Bros. have unveiled a new animated series: Mister Miracle. This marks the second animated series produced under the DC Studios banner and was officially announced at the Annecy Animation Festival. The show will be produced by Tom King, a prolific writer for DC Comics. King, known for his acclaimed work, previously collaborated with Mitch Gerads on the 2017 Mister Miracle series, which earned critical praise and won the 2019 Eisner Award for Best Limited Series.

It seems this comic will serve as the foundation for the animated adaptation.

The official logline hints that Scott Free, better known as Mister Miracle, will once again be the center of the story. A globally renowned escape artist, Scott has the uncanny ability to escape any trap or prison. But this time, his ultimate challenge might be escaping death itself. His life, once perfect, has been shaken by an ongoing war between his home worlds of Apocalypse and New Genesis. Even more troubling, his adoptive father, the tyrant Darkseid, has finally captured the Anti-Life Equation – a weapon of unimaginable power.

As the conflict between the two worlds escalates, Mister Miracle must take on a heroic role to end the war and prevent total destruction. But with the Anti-Life Equation twisting his own mind, Scott faces not only external battles but internal demons that threaten his fragile happiness with his wife, Big Barda.

This series promises to be a harrowing, yet darkly humorous journey for Scott Free. He will have to navigate the complexities of both the ordinary and the extraordinary as he tries to save his family, his world, and perhaps even himself.

While details are still scarce, the teaser art suggests that the animation will closely reflect Gerads’ style from the original comic series. However, there is no word yet on the voice cast or the full production team, and it’s still unclear when or where the show will debut. One of the big questions is whether Mister Miracle will be part of the DCU shared universe, like the upcoming Creature Commandos, or if it will exist as an independent story. If it ties into the broader DCU, it might be the first appearance of Darkseid and other Fourth World characters in the cinematic universe.

Mister Miracle joins a growing list of DC Studios projects inspired by Tom King’s work. His 2021 comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is being adapted into a 2026 film, and King is also writing for the live-action Lanterns series currently in production. As DC Studios expands, fans are eager to see how King’s storytelling will evolve across different formats.
