Deltarune’s latest chapters have kept fans on the edge of their seats, revealing new secrets and mysterious plot twists. A hidden Easter egg in the PlayStation version of the game offers a bizarre challenge: completing all four chapters without earning a single trophy.

Sounds impossible? Well, that’s the point.

Last week, with the release of Chapters 3 and 4, the addition of PlayStation-exclusive trophies took the Deltarune experience to a whole new level. However, among these trophies lies a secret most players will likely never see. To unlock it, you’ll need to avoid earning any trophies throughout the entire game. Yes, that means no damage-related trophies, no treasure chest unlocking, no equipping armor, and certainly no using items or interacting with chairs. You must also dodge the achievements that trigger simply by completing chapters.

As shared by Reddit user millsbuddy, this hidden dialogue only appears in the credits sequence of Chapter 4, but only if you’ve managed to earn zero trophies throughout the entire game. It’s not as simple as just avoiding a few trophies – you must beat every chapter without triggering even the most basic achievement. Some of these trophies are ridiculously easy to earn, so it’s practically a miracle if you don’t accidentally unlock a few along the way.

The task becomes even more absurd when you realize there are achievements for basic actions like taking damage, opening treasure chests, equipping armor, and so on. Some trophies can be avoided by finding specific secret items in each chapter, but still, the chance of making it through all four chapters without a single trophy is extremely slim.

Why the trophies, you ask? In a recent newsletter, Toby Fox revealed that they were a requirement for releasing a paid game on PlayStation. But he also hinted at the challenge of unlocking this secret message, almost as if he regrets adding it to the game at all. He even warned fans about the frustration they might face: “I make no endorsement that you actually attempt it! Even knowing of its mere existence will only bring you frustration and anguish! Honestly, it may be one of the worst ideas I’ve ever had.”

Despite these warnings, if you somehow manage to unlock this elusive Easter egg, you’ll be greeted with a mysterious message that adds to the ever-expanding lore of Deltarune. While theories about who delivers this message abound, fans are left to speculate until Toby Fox decides to reveal more. One thing’s for sure: this challenge is as hard as it is rewarding – if you’re even brave enough to attempt it.

And for those who’d rather keep their sanity intact, here’s a taste of what you’ll miss:

WARNING: Spoiler alert if you continue reading below this point! While we won’t spoil the entire text, it’s worth noting that the voice behind the message seems familiar, a voice that addresses the player early on in the game and returns at the end with a different message based on how you finish. Fans are already speculating who this mysterious voice might be, but as usual, Deltarune leaves plenty for the community to discuss.
