Dimensity 9500 vs Snapdragon 8 Elite 2: Performance Battle Ahead
Qualcomm and MediaTek are pushing the limits of smartphone chip technology, working to create powerful yet efficient solutions that could reshape the mobile landscape.

With just a few months until the launch of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, rumors are swirling that MediaTek could unveil its Dimensity 9500 a little earlier. This early release might not have a significant impact on device manufacturers, who typically plan their releases well in advance. However, for consumers, the performance comparison between the two could be crucial, especially if one offers a noticeable edge over the other.

Recent leaks suggest that the performance of the Dimensity 9500 and Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 are strikingly close. Digital Chat Station, a reliable source in the tech community, revealed the latest benchmark scores for both chipsets, and the numbers are impressive.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 scores over 4,000 points in single-core performance, up from its previous score of around 3,100, and surpasses 11,000 points in multi-core performance, a significant improvement from 9,800. The Dimensity 9500, on the other hand, achieves a single-core score of 3,900, an increase from 2,900, and matches the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 with over 11,000 points in multi-core performance.

Both chipsets are manufactured using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, which is known for its power efficiency. The Dimensity 9500 architecture includes one Travis core, three Alto cores, and four Gelas cores, with the first two based on Arm’s Cortex-X9 cores, while the latter is based on Cortex-A7. In comparison, MediaTek’s previous flagship, the Dimensity 9400, used Cortex-X4 cores, making the new chipset a considerable upgrade.

Phones equipped with the Dimensity 9500 are expected to launch soon, with the Oppo Find X9 and Vivo X300 among the first candidates. While we don’t yet know the exact release date for MediaTek’s new chip, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to be officially announced around September 23.
