Drag x Drive Launches Exclusively on Switch 2 with a $19.99 Price Tag

Nintendo has confirmed the release date and pricing for the much-anticipated Switch 2 exclusive, Drag x Drive. Available for preorder now on the eShop, Drag x Drive will be priced at $19.99 / £16.99.

This is $10 more than the $9.99 Welcome Tour, which some fans felt should have been bundled with the Switch 2 as a free introductory experience.

Drag x Drive, developed by Nintendo, is a unique 3v3 basketball-style game that uses the new Joy-Con 2 controllers. Players control wheelchair-bound characters in action-packed matches, pushing the wheels to move faster and pulling off various tricks. The game is set to launch exclusively for the Switch 2 on August 14, 2025, and will only be available digitally through the eShop, confirming that no physical release is planned for this title.

The game’s announcement in April during Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal was just the beginning. As more information trickles in, we’re starting to get a clearer picture of what’s coming exclusively to the Switch 2 in the second half of 2025. Prior to Drag x Drive’s release, fans can look forward to titles like Donkey Kong Bananza, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Other big titles, such as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Splatoon Raiders, are expected in 2025, although specific release dates are still pending.

While many are eagerly awaiting big titles like Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the Switch 2, Drag x Drive is already garnering a mixed reception. It’s being compared to the 2017 ARMS, which was a similarly quirky title that didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Some are hopeful that the game will surprise players, while others remain skeptical of its appeal. Regardless, at least it’s reasonably priced compared to the $79.99 Mario Kart World, another Nintendo launch title.

In the end, Drag x Drive’s success will likely depend on how well it is received by players. Will it be a cult favorite, or will it struggle to gain traction?

Well, at least it’s only $20 and not $80 like some other games. That’s a win, I guess 😂
