However, Nintendo Switch owners will have to sit this one out as Techland has confirmed there are no plans to release the update on the hybrid console.

The update, which includes improved textures, lighting, and a completely remastered audio experience, is designed to breathe new life into the original Dying Light, which has aged like a fine wine since its launch a decade ago. Players on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S will enjoy these upgrades, but unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch has been excluded from the list of supported platforms.

Techland has been clear about its intentions, explaining that there are currently no plans for a Dying Light: Retouched update on the Switch. This decision also extends to the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, with the developer confirming it has no plans to port the original Dying Light to the upcoming hardware either. According to a Techland representative, the studio’s focus is currently on delivering Dying Light: The Beast, a spinoff that will launch on August 22, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Dying Light franchise has had a mixed history on Nintendo hardware. The original game was released on the Switch in 2021 as part of the Platinum Edition bundle, but its performance was compromised by a ban in Germany that led to its removal from the eShop in several countries, including Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Dying Light 2: Stay Human was also announced for the Switch in 2021, but it has yet to materialize on the platform, despite the sequel launching for other consoles in 2022.

For now, Nintendo Switch fans will have to settle for the Platinum Edition of the original Dying Light, which remains the only available version on the console. As for the future, Techland has not ruled out the possibility of bringing its upcoming Dying Light spinoff to the Switch 2 but has emphasized that no concrete plans are in place. So, while the Retouched update won’t be making its way to the Switch anytime soon, fans of the series can still look forward to future releases-though the Switch may not be part of the equation.
