Techland is showing a keen interest in bringing Dying Light: The Beast to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. In an interview during the Summer Game Fest 2025, we spoke with Tymon Smektała, the Franchise Director for Dying Light, who was open about his hopes for this to happen, although he didn’t confirm any official plans yet.
“I would love this to happen at some point, but nothing to announce at this time,” he said.
Smektała also shared some exciting details about the technical improvements made to the game’s C-Engine. According to him, the in-house engine has undergone significant upgrades. “We’ve really improved the visuals,” he mentioned. “Weather effects, material rendering, lighting, shadows, and how the sun moves in the sky have all been enhanced, making it a whole new level compared to Dying Light 2: Stay Human.”
Interestingly, the game is still aiming for a release on older-generation consoles, such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in 2025. Given this, it’s clear that the Nintendo Switch 2 should have no problem handling the game’s raw performance demands. The real challenge for Techland seems to be whether it will find the right moment to bring the game to Nintendo’s new console.
Despite its massive success, the first Dying Light didn’t make it to the Switch until six and a half years after its initial release in 2015. When it did, it arrived as a Platinum Edition, including all the downloadable content and a Switch version. Whether Techland will adopt a similar strategy for this “unofficial third game” remains to be seen. Dying Light 2: Stay Human was announced for the Switch in a cloud version, but that never came to fruition.
