EA Sports College Basketball Is Back, Set to Return in 2028

EA Sports is officially reviving its beloved College Basketball franchise, nearly two decades after the last game hit shelves. Building on the massive success of College Football 25, which raked in over $1 billion in sales, EA has confirmed that College Basketball is back in development, with a projected release in 2028.

The return was teased via the official EA Sports X (formerly Twitter) account, using the tagline “Bring the Madness.

Let’s run it back
,” a nod to March Madness and the nostalgic energy fans have been craving. The post signaled EA’s plans to expand its collegiate offerings after football’s triumphant comeback.

Fans of college hoops will remember NCAA Basketball 10 as the last EA-published game in the genre, released in 2009. Licensing complications and changing NCAA rules shelved the series for years. But thanks to the groundwork laid for College Football 25, and updated rules around name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights, basketball is bouncing back in a big way.

With EA betting big on college sports again, questions now swirl about what this new basketball installment could offer. Enhanced gameplay? Deeper career modes? Dynamic March Madness tournaments? The potential is massive, and fans are already hyped.

And with EA showing renewed interest in college athletics, some players are now hoping for other revivals too – like an MLB return. Whether that’s a dream or a fastball down the middle remains to be seen.
