EA Sports Brings Back NCAA Basketball After 16-Year Hiatus

After more than a decade on the sidelines, EA Sports is making a buzzer-beater comeback to college basketball gaming. In a cryptic yet electrifying social media teaser, EA Sports dropped a simple message: “Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back.” With it came a basketball emoji, a nod to what fans have been craving for years – the return of NCAA basketball to the virtual courts.

This marks the first college basketball game from EA since 2009’s NCAA Basketball 10, a title that still holds nostalgic weight for many fans of the genre. Now, following the successful return of College Football 25, it seems EA is ready to revive the hardwood too. The teaser didn’t offer any gameplay details, release windows, or even a name – but the message was loud enough.

The madness is back.

For those familiar with EA’s mixed history in basketball, this return comes with a dose of skepticism. While the resurrection of college sports is exciting, EA’s track record with NBA titles – especially the ill-fated NBA Live series – remains fresh in players’ minds. Some wonder whether EA is testing the waters with college ball before diving back into the pro scene.

Meanwhile, NBA 2K25 continues to dominate the court, albeit with familiar issues. We gave it a 7/10, praising minor improvements but noting ongoing flaws that fans have come to expect. Still, competition is sorely needed – something EA could reignite if they get it right this time.

Will EA simply recycle nostalgia, or genuinely innovate? Fans are cautiously optimistic. One thing’s for sure: if the gameplay matches the hype, we might finally get a worthy rival to 2K’s reign – and March won’t be the only madness fans are talking about.
