FromSoftware has officially confirmed that Elden Ring Nightreign is receiving its long-awaited two-player mode on July 30, 2025, via Patch 1.02.
Elden Ring Nightreign Gets Official Duos Mode in Upcoming Update
This update brings a cooperative duos mode that fans have been requesting since the game’s beta stage. Players will now be able to team up with one companion for intense roguelike action-no need to search endlessly for a third partner.

While the new duo expeditions are stealing the spotlight, Patch 1.02 also introduces several quality-of-life and UI upgrades. Expect improved relic filtering and other tweaks that should streamline the overall experience.

Since its reveal at The Game Awards 2024, Elden Ring Nightreign has defied expectations. It dominated US sales in its launch month and secured top-five rankings on multiple global charts. Even by June, it remained in the US top-10 and global top-15, proving its staying power in the market.

Modders had already added unofficial duos support, but now with official backing, this feature could reignite interest from hesitant players. Being able to jump in with just one friend removes a major barrier for many, making the game far more accessible.

With the update launching so close to the end of July, it has only a short window to impact sales charts. Still, FromSoftware is optimistic, especially after Nightreign crossed 5 million copies sold since its May release-a major milestone for their first true multiplayer venture.

All eyes will now turn to FromSoftware’s next step: The Duskbloods, a Switch 2 exclusive, which aims to continue the studio’s push into multiplayer-focused Soulsborne experiences.
