Elden Ring Nightreign has been out for almost a month now, and FromSoftware continues to release enhanced versions of its bosses. The first enhanced boss, Gaping Jaw, was a nightmare for many players.
However, after the first 24 hours of battling the second enhanced boss, the Darkdrift Knight, also known as Fulghor, Champion of the Nightglow, players don’t seem as intimidated.
To face Fulghor, players must first conquer the base-level Darkdrift Knight expedition. This fight will be available until the next Everdark Sovereign rotates in. Notably, Fulghor has replaced the previous Gaping Jaw battle, which itself wasn’t an easy challenge.
Compared to the first enhanced boss, Fulghor doesn’t seem as overwhelming. While still a tough challenge, he doesn’t carry the same level of frustration as Gaping Jaw did. His Venom-like arm appendage starts the fight, and during his mid-fight transition, he ascends into the sky, swapping his appendage for a normal arm and unleashing explosive, flashy attacks. Despite this, the fight is relatively more calm compared to the storm and lightning frenzy Gaping Jaw unleashed.
One player mentioned, “I feel like Fulghor is easier, but it’s much more enjoyable. Chasing a boss for 20 minutes just to get a couple of hits is boring.” Another said, “Fulghor could’ve been harder or had flashier moves, but I’m having a lot more fun repeating runs against him than Adel.”
On the other hand, some players prefer the dramatic, flashy attacks of Adel over the more subdued moves of Fulghor. One player commented, “I liked the tornado attack from Adel where you had to jump into the eye or take constant damage. That felt well thought out. The new attacks from Fulghor are pretty easy to understand even on the first encounter.”
A major issue for some players was server instability. Around the time Fulghor launched, many reported disconnects, which impacted their experience. However, for most players, the enhanced Darkdrift Knight seems a bit easier than the Gaping Jaw battle.
There are still many enhanced boss battles to look forward to. According to Bandai Namco’s announcement, the Sentient Pest Everdark Sovereign is coming soon, and more bosses will be getting enhanced versions over time.
