Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has been officially rated by the ESRB, and that likely signals something big for Nintendo fans: a near-future release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
While the original Elden Ring already carved its place as one of the greatest action RPGs of the decade, the upcoming Tarnished Edition aims to expand that experience with new content and portability for handheld gaming enthusiasts.
Originally unveiled during Nintendo’s Switch 2 showcase in April, Tarnished Edition is not just a re-release. It includes two entirely new starting classes, four fresh armor sets, new weapons and skills, plus additional customizations for your faithful steed, Torrent. On top of that, FromSoftware promises improved quality-of-life features – although those details remain under wraps for now.
Most notably, the Tarnished Edition packs in the full Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, complete with a brand-new map and some seriously brutal new bosses. This makes the upcoming version a definitive one for players who may have skipped the game earlier or are itching to replay it in a new way.
While Bandai Namco hasn’t confirmed an exact release date yet, the timing of the ESRB rating-just before their showcase this week-strongly hints that the announcement is coming soon. For those hesitant to dive into a sprawling open world, the possibility of playing on the go might finally make the adventure more accessible.
Stay tuned. The Erdtree might soon be sprouting on a new screen in your hands.
