Get ready for some web-slinging excitement as Magic: The Gathering reveals its latest crossover: Spider-Man! Following the reveal of Spider-Man cards earlier this year, we now have an exclusive preview of cards from the upcoming Standard-legal set, debuting at San Diego Comic-Con 2025.

Whether you’re a Spider-Verse fan or just a fan of Magic’s crossovers, these five new cards are sure to impress.

The set includes five different Spider-Man versions, each depicted as legendary creatures. At the Uncommon rarity, you’ll find Spider-Man Noir and SP//dr, the robotic suit piloted by Peni Parker. Moving up to Rare, we have Spider-Man 2099 and the hilarious Spider-Ham. At Mythic Rare, the star of the show, Peter Parker, takes center stage. His card is double-sided: one side shows Peter Parker, and the other transforms him into the Amazing Spider-Man.

This innovative double-faced card mechanic isn’t new, but this particular card offers an exciting twist. You can cast Peter Parker for just two mana, and later pay four more to flip him into Spider-Man. With this transformation, you unlock his powerful ‘web-slinging’ ability. This lets you cast Legendary spells by returning a tapped creature to your hand-a game-changing ability that could make him a popular choice for Commander decks.

Fans of Sony’s Into the Spider-Verse animated films will also appreciate the references in these cards, even if they’re not directly tied to the movie. However, it’s worth noting that we’re still missing a version of Peter B. Parker and Spider-Gwen-perhaps they’ll appear in future reveals.

As for the artwork, Magic’s “Iconic Moments” Booster Fun treatment adds a unique touch. One of the cards features artwork from the iconic cover of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 from 1963, a true collector’s gem for comic book fans.

Wizards of the Coast will also be hosting an event at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, where players can get hands-on with the Spider-Man-themed Welcome Decks, which are designed for newcomers to Magic. It’s clear that WOTC is excited about bringing in new players, especially after the success of previous Universes Beyond sets.
