The Fairphone 6, the upcoming modular smartphone from the Dutch tech company Fairphone, has confirmed its unique two-part backplate design.
This phone stays true to its predecessors with a rectangular form factor but offers new customization possibilities that are sure to attract users who enjoy personalizing their devices.
As rumored earlier, the Fairphone 6 will feature a modular backplate that allows owners to swap or customize the design. Recent leaked images from Winfuture.de have confirmed this design, showcasing the phone in various angles. Users will be able to choose from color options like Horizon Black, Forest Green, and Cloud White. Even more exciting, these backplates will be sold separately, enabling users to mix and match for a truly personalized look.
However, the Fairphone 6 isn’t just about customization. Like its predecessors, it is a mid-range device. The phone will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It also has a microSD card slot, offering expansion up to 2 TB, providing ample space for all your files and apps.
Despite its compact design, the Fairphone 6 packs a 4,415 mAh battery. While this might seem small compared to modern standards, its true strength lies in the fact that the battery is replaceable, and Fairphone claims it will last up to 1,000 charging cycles. The battery also supports 33W wired charging, ensuring that it charges quickly for those on the go. The phone is estimated to last around 53 hours on a single charge, depending on usage.
In terms of durability, the Fairphone 6 has earned a Class A rating for both repairability and durability, meaning it’s designed to be easily repaired and can withstand everyday wear and tear. The 6.31-inch LTPO-based P-OLED display supports a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz, making it ideal for a smooth and responsive experience. The phone’s IP55 certification ensures it’s resistant to dust and splashes, although it is not fully waterproof due to the modular design.
Fairphone has not yet confirmed the exact release date, but it is expected to launch in Europe on June 25 for €550. This device combines sustainability, customizability, and a solid performance, making it an attractive option for users who want a phone that’s as unique as they are.
