Fairphone 6 might just redefine what it means to own a truly modular smartphone.

The Dutch company, long known for its ethical and sustainable approach to mobile tech, is taking things to the next level with its upcoming release – aiming for more customization, more repairability, and more user freedom than ever before.

Unlike traditional smartphones that treat repair as a nuisance, Fairphone builds its business around longevity and modularity. The Fairphone 5 already impressed with its promise of five major Android updates and ten years of security patches, but the Fairphone 6 looks to up the ante. According to a recent leak from WinFuture.de, the Fairphone 6 will offer fully customizable back panels, letting users mix and match top and bottom cover colors – including the sleek Horizon Black, clean Cloud White, and earthy Forest Green.

More than just aesthetics, the Fairphone 6 will allow users to replace nearly every essential component: rear and front cameras, display, battery, earpiece, speaker, and even the USB-C port. In a world where swapping out your phone battery is almost ancient history, this is a bold and refreshing return to common sense.

And Fairphone’s ecosystem is expanding too. The company plans to launch interchangeable accessories via partners, including card holders, lanyards, and grip rings – all designed to extend functionality and comfort. This modular vision embraces not just sustainability but also style and personalization.

While the full spec sheet is still under wraps, sources say the Fairphone 6 will feature at least 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Its price might come as a surprise: reports suggest it could start at just €550, significantly cheaper than the €700 Fairphone 5. If true, this makes ethical tech more accessible than ever.

As for its debut, Dutch tech outlet Nieuwe Mobiel hints at a June 25 launch. Whether Murena – Fairphone’s software partner – brings this model to the U.S. remains to be seen, but global interest is certainly rising.

In a market obsessed with yearly upgrades and throwaway culture, Fairphone 6 might not just be another phone. It could be a statement. One that says sustainability, repairability, and user choice are not luxuries – they’re necessities.

Respect to Fairphone. They’re fighting the good fight while others just release the same phone every year with a different name
