Fairphone 6: The Sustainable Modular Smartphone with Impressive Specs

Fairphone has unveiled its latest sustainable smartphone, the Fairphone 6, which builds upon its predecessor with several notable upgrades.

The phone features a new Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, a larger 4,415mAh battery, and a revamped accessory system that adds new modular options.

True to its nature, the Fairphone 6 is built to last. It’s as easy to repair as ever, with the company providing spare parts and step-by-step video tutorials on how to replace key components. The phone is designed with sustainability in mind: it is E-waste neutral, assembled under fair labor conditions, and has an excellent repairability rating as per the EU’s energy efficiency label. Fairphone also offers a generous five-year warranty and eight years of software support.

As for the display, the Fairphone 6 is equipped with a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED panel offering FHD+ resolution and a dynamic 10-120Hz refresh rate. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, it also boasts a peak brightness of 1,400 nits and a 32MP front-facing camera for clear selfies. Compared to the previous model, the smaller screen reduces the phone’s weight by 19 grams, while also making it shorter and narrower. The phone features a matte composite body, IP55 ingress protection, and is now drop-resistant up to 1.5 meters.

One of the standout features of the Fairphone 6 is its new accessory system. You can now attach a variety of accessories to the back of the phone, including a card holder, lanyard, or finger loop, by simply removing two screws. Additionally, a dedicated yellow switch activates Moments mode, a digital detox feature that turns the UI monochrome and limits you to only five essential apps.

The camera system is upgraded with a 50MP main camera featuring a Sony Lytia 700C sensor and OIS, along with a 13MP ultrawide lens for a more versatile photography experience. The phone comes with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, which is expandable via the microSDXC slot. The new battery supports 30W wired charging for quick power-ups.

In terms of software, the Fairphone 6 offers two versions: the standard Android 15 and a privacy-focused version running on /e/OS, which removes Google apps and services. Both versions are based on Android Open-Source Project (AOSP). The regular Android 15 version is priced at €599, while the /e/OS version starts at €649.

The Fairphone 6 comes in three color options: Cloud White, Forest Green, and Horizon Black.
