Universal Studios Brings Fallout to Life in First-Ever Post-Apocalyptic Haunted House for Halloween Horror Nights 2025
For the first time ever, fans of Bethesda’s legendary post-nuclear RPG series Fallout will get to step into its irradiated world-literally. Universal Studios has officially announced that Halloween Horror Nights 2025 in both Orlando and Hollywood will feature a fully immersive haunted house based on the Fallout Prime Video series, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most ambitious houses the event has ever seen.
The attraction kicks off August 29 in Orlando and September 4 in Hollywood. Guests will start in Vault 33, walking alongside protagonist Lucy MacLean as she escapes a gruesome massacre and uncovers a deadly secret buried within the vault’s walls. From there, visitors are launched into the terrifying Wasteland, dodging deadly Raiders, Scavengers, RAD Roaches, and other mutated horrors-all drawn directly from the series and games.
Super fans will recognize iconic locations like the Super Duper Mart and characters such as Maximus in his massive T-60 Power Armor. While the Orlando and Hollywood versions share much of the same lore, each park will offer unique features. In Hollywood, the T-60 armor will be a fully animatronic centerpiece, while Orlando offers an intense final battle scene-plus a few surprise characters (hello, Filly!).
According to John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood, and Matthew Flood, Senior Show Director in Orlando, the team has painstakingly recreated the Fallout world with obsessive detail. Murdy described writing treatments averaging 100 pages, complete with technical breakdowns and narrative guides. The experience is designed not just for casual fans, but for die-hard Fallout veterans-with hidden Easter Eggs, Pip-Boy nods, and secrets tucked into every storefront and corner. “If you come back for a second or third run, you’ll notice new details each time,” Flood teased.
Atmosphere is key, with Fallout’s retro-futuristic 1950s aesthetic playing a huge role. From eerie pre-war music echoing in ruined buildings to the grotesque charm of mutated ghouls and Yao Guai bears, it’s a unique take on horror that blends nostalgia with nuclear nightmare.
And while Fallout is the headliner, don’t overlook the Five Nights at Freddy’s experience. Built in collaboration with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop-who made the animatronics for the movie-this house is designed to make you feel like you’re inside the film itself. Full details remain under wraps, but if animatronic Freddy is anything like what we’ve seen in the film, expect terror behind every pizza-sauce-stained curtain.
Fans are already dreaming big-imagining an entire Fallout-themed resort complete with a Vault hotel and a decaying Wasteland to explore. While that may still be fantasy, this haunted house is real-and it’s coming fast.
