Fallout New Vegas RTX Remix Mod Brings Path Tracing and Texture Overhaul

Fans of the Fallout series are in for a treat as a Fallout New Vegas RTX Remix mod is currently under development, promising to bring modern visual improvements to one of the most iconic post-apocalyptic RPGs.

Developed by skurtyyskirts, this mod aims to introduce path tracing to Fallout New Vegas, significantly enhancing the game’s indoor environments with more realistic lighting and shadows.

The early version of the mod already showcases major improvements, with lighting effects that add depth and realism to indoor spaces. However, as is often the case with advanced graphics mods, outdoor environments are experiencing a more mixed reception. While path tracing works wonders indoors, it tends to alter the original feel of outdoor locations, which some players might find too drastic. Nevertheless, the mod promises a unique experience that enhances the game’s already beloved aesthetics.

Alongside path tracing, the mod will also include new textures designed to better complement the new lighting effects. These textures aim to provide more detail and depth, making the game world even more immersive and visually appealing.

Despite being released 15 years ago, Fallout New Vegas remains a fan favorite and one of the standout entries in the Fallout series. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the game has maintained a strong fanbase, with many hoping for a sequel. While rumors of a potential New Vegas 2 continue to circulate, especially with Microsoft now owning both Bethesda and Obsidian, official news has yet to materialize. It’s been over three years since the last hint of a sequel, leaving fans eagerly awaiting any updates.
