FBC: Firebreak Post-Launch Roadmap Reveals Two Major Free Updates

FBC: Firebreak is set to launch in just a few days, and Remedy Entertainment has already revealed the exciting post-launch plans for the game. As part of the roadmap, the first major update, codenamed ‘Outbreak,’ will arrive in Fall 2025.

This update will introduce new gameplay mechanics, a fresh ‘Research Sector’ job site, free rewards, and an assortment of cosmetics available for purchase through a classified requisition.

The second major update, titled ‘Blackout,’ will also bring a new job site (name still under wraps), along with additional enemies, new equipment, and more rewards for players. Just like ‘Outbreak,’ it will include paid cosmetics as part of the classified requisitions, but all playable content will remain free for everyone.

While cosmetics are paid, Remedy has confirmed that all playable post-launch content will be completely free. This means you won’t miss out on important features or expansions, even if you can’t afford extra DLC. For players who are unsure about purchasing Firebreak at launch, don’t worry-it’s available on both Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus Extra, giving you plenty of chances to check it out without having to buy it upfront.

FBC: Firebreak launches June 17, 2025. While it’s a shift from Remedy’s usual single-player games, early impressions from hands-on playtests suggest that it still has the unique ‘Remedy magic’-enough to stand out in a crowded multiplayer space. However, the game’s long-term appeal remains to be seen once it’s fully released and tested by a larger audience.
