Final Fantasy XVI’s Xbox Series S port has exceeded expectations, delivering a surprisingly solid experience. After nearly two years of anticipation, the game finally made its way to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. New YouTube videos from The Xbox Tester and Fuzion Xbox Testing offer a glimpse into how well the game performs on Microsoft’s consoles, showing that the Xbox Series X version is almost identical to the PlayStation 5 counterpart.

Both versions offer similar image quality and smooth performance across the two available display modes.

However, Square Enix didn’t take the opportunity to update AMD FSR in the Xbox release, sticking with the older version found in the PS5 release-something fans had expected. While the Xbox Series X version performs as expected, matching the PS5 in virtually every way, it’s the Xbox Series S that steals the show. Despite its more modest hardware, the game runs quite well, with the framerate locked at 30 FPS. While it’s not as high as the PS5 or Xbox Series X, it provides a solid and consistent experience for those playing on the more affordable Series S.

Even though the PlayStation 5 often struggles to maintain 60 FPS in Performance Mode, the Xbox Series S version manages to stay at 30 FPS without any major stuttering, making it one of the best ports for this console. Final Fantasy XVI is now available across multiple platforms, including PC, PS5, and both Xbox Series X and Series S. Fans of the series can look forward to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, which will also be hitting Xbox consoles soon.
