The GALAX GeForce RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB has hit eBay with a jaw-dropping price tag of up to $5,999, making it one of the priciest GPUs available right now. Originally a Chinese-exclusive card, it has now spread globally, but at a hefty markup – twice the cost of the GeForce RTX 5090. This surge in price comes after NVIDIA had to stop supplying the 5090D due to recent US export policies.
With the 5090D no longer shipping to China, the focus has shifted to a possible GeForce RTX 5090D V2, which is expected to hit the Chinese market soon.
Despite the steep price, the GALAX RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB edition is one of the most sought-after options, especially among overclocking enthusiasts. Its high price is justified by its advanced features, including two 16-pin connectors that allow for massive power consumption, with some BIOS modifications enabling up to 2000W. However, this power increase does not lead to any noticeable improvement in gaming performance. What it does do, however, is provide extra headroom for overclocking, particularly when using advanced cooling techniques like nitrogen cooling.
The GALAX HOF series is known for its premium quality, but the fact that the RTX 5090D is priced so much higher than the already high-end GeForce RTX 5090 raises questions. While the RTX 5090 is already available for $2500-$3000, the 5090D version costs a significant premium, making it a tough sell unless you’re looking to push the limits and break overclocking records. In the world of high-performance GPUs, sometimes the price tag has little to do with gaming performance and everything to do with bragging rights and record-breaking potential.
