GALAX RTX 5090 D Breaks Records With 3650 MHz Overclock & 36 Gbps GDDR7

The GALAX GeForce RTX 5090 D has just shattered performance records, thanks to Team OGS and their extreme overclocking prowess.

Using liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling, the team pushed the RTX 5090 D XOC edition to an astonishing 3650 MHz on the core clock-setting new benchmarks across 3DMark Port Royal, Unigine Superposition, and GPUPI.

Armed with an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU and ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 APEX Encore motherboard, Team OGS took full advantage of GALAX’s XOC BIOS, which allows a jaw-dropping 2000W power limit. The RTX 5090 D HOF XOC edition features dual 12V-2×6 connectors, each capable of delivering up to 600W. This not only provides ample overhead for LN2 overclocking, but also hints at what future enthusiast-class cards might require as the norm.

In the GPUPI benchmark, the card hit its highest clock speed of 3650 MHz and completed the 32B test in just 39.434 seconds

. Meanwhile, memory speeds soared to 36 Gbps-a 28.5% uplift from the standard 28 Gbps GDDR7 memory-pushing bandwidth from 1.792 TB/s to an impressive 2.304 TB/s.

Here’s how the record-breaking benchmarks lined up:

  • Unigine Superposition (1080p Xtreme): 38,237 points @ 3540 MHz GPU
  • 3DMark Port Royal: 47,469 points @ 3570 MHz GPU
  • GPUPI v3.3 32B: 39.434 seconds @ 3650 MHz GPU

While this level of performance is awe-inspiring, it’s largely academic for everyday gamers. LN2 setups and 2kW GPU power limits are far from mainstream. Some in the community have expressed frustration that only a handful of RTX 5090 cards come equipped with dual 12V-2×6 connectors, arguing that high-power readiness should be standard as GPUs demand more juice.

Still, the achievement underscores the raw potential of NVIDIA’s new architecture and hints at what’s possible as the hardware matures. Expect even higher overclocks as these XOC BIOSes and PCB designs become more accessible.
