Samsung Rolls Out September 2024 Security Updates for Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy S21 FE
Samsung has initiated a comprehensive rollout of the September 2024 security patch across some of its popular smartphone models, enhancing the security and stability of these devices.
Galaxy A53 5G Update
The recent update for the Galaxy A53 5G targets both factory-unlocked and carrier-locked versions in the United States, identifiable by model numbers SM-A536U1 and SM-A536U respectively. The firmware update, named A536U1UESAEXH3 for the former and A536USQSBEXH5 for the latter, will be sent as an over-the-air (OTA) update, ensuring users maintain device security with minimal hassle. Users can manually check for updates through Settings » Software update » Download and install or opt for a manual installation via Odin from Samsung’s download database.
While the Galaxy A53 5G is currently ineligible for the Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1, it is slated to receive the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 later this year, giving users potential new functionalities and improvements.
Galaxy S21 FE Update
The Galaxy S21 FE’s international variant with model number SM-G990B2 is also receiving the September security patch, now available in India following a staggered release in other regions. This update, tagged with Build Number G990B2XXS8GXI1, similarly addresses 67 security loopholes, aiming to bolster device security. While the changelog is unclear on additional enhancements, users are encouraged to update to protect against vulnerabilities.
Installation of this update follows the same OTA method through Settings » Software update » Download and install. Although manual installation via Odin is an option, the OTA method is recommended for security purposes.

In a related development, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy S24 FE, the newest iteration of the Fan Edition phones. This device comes packed with modern features and has seen high demand, leading to limited availability in several markets. Potential buyers are advised to act swiftly to secure a unit.
