Galaxy S25 Edge Drop Test: Ultra-Thin Beauty, Ultra-Fragile Reality?
The Galaxy S25 Edge may be Samsung’s sleekest and slimmest smartphone to date, but its durability doesn’t quite match its looks. At just 5.8mm thick, the S25 Edge embodies minimalism in form, yet it leaves many users questioning whether such thinness is worth the trade-offs-especially when it comes to durability.
In a recent PBKreviews drop test, the S25 Edge took some tumbles-and while the titanium frame showed impressive resistance to structural bending, the phone’s glass surfaces weren’t so lucky. The front screen, made from Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, cracked on the very first drop. It stayed functional, yes, but the integrity was clearly compromised. By the third drop, the rear Victus 2 glass was shattered, and the main camera suffered visible scuffs.
And this brings us to a larger issue: despite marketing buzz around toughened glass like Gorilla, Victus, or even Ceramic Shield, at the end of the day-glass is still glass. No matter what high-tech name it’s given, it remains prone to breakage when dropped, especially on harder surfaces.
Some commenters argued that thinness isn’t inherently the issue-the S25 Edge didn’t bend, after all. Rather, it’s the decision to clad both sides in glass that makes these devices vulnerable. A few even noted that the use of titanium finally makes sense in these thin models, where tensile strength helps maintain structural rigidity.
So what’s the real-world advice here? While some users insist they haven’t used a case in years without issue, many others recognize the necessity of some form of protection. A case-even a slim, clear one-can mean the difference between a costly repair and a minor annoyance. Others suggest a hybrid approach: a glass screen protector paired with a full-body skin. That way, the device remains sleek without being completely naked to the elements.
Samsung offers its own light protective options that maintain the Edge’s thin profile, though some users still feel a bit underwhelmed by the real-world resilience of such an expensive flagship. It’s a luxury device that may not survive luxury treatment.
At the end of the day, if you’re going to buy a phone that’s this thin and expensive, you need to accept a simple truth: you’re either protecting it-or you’re gambling with it.

I’ve dropped mine twice already (once on tiles 😬), skin + protector = no damage so far. No need for chunky case imo
Glass is glass. Call it Gorilla, Victus, or Panda-it’s still gonna crack when it meets concrete
why would you buy a super thin phone just to slap a bulky case on it? lol, make better phones 💀
Skins protect from scratches, not drops. Stop coping and buy a case. It ain’t that deep
