Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Teardown: Weight Savings & Key Differences from the S25+

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has taken the spotlight in a recent teardown video, which compares it to its larger sibling, the S25 Plus. The S25 Edge is often viewed as a more compact, lighter version of the S25+, missing the telephoto camera, but with similar displays and dimensions. While it may seem like a minor variation at first glance, this detailed teardown reveals that the difference is more than just a sleeker design and lower weight.

Samsung has meticulously optimized almost every component for weight reduction, making the S25 Edge notably lighter and thinner than the S25+.

The teardown video, which is in Korean, showcases a side-by-side breakdown of the S25 Edge and S25+, with each part weighed individually. At the end of the video, a comprehensive chart compares the various components, revealing the most significant changes. While the S25 Edge is 27 grams lighter overall, it’s not just the frame or back plate that has been thinned down. Samsung has managed to reduce the weight of nearly every internal part, from the motherboard and battery to the vibration motor and speakers.

The battery in the S25 Edge is 12.6 grams lighter than the S25+, and the middle frame has been trimmed by 2.8 grams, thanks to the use of titanium instead of aluminum. Smaller reductions in weight can be found in the motherboard, camera, NFC module, and even the speakers. When you add it all up, the S25 Edge weighs in at just 163 grams, making it 1.5mm thinner than the S25+.

It’s clear that Samsung has put a lot of effort into making the Galaxy S25 Edge feel as lightweight and streamlined as possible. Though some users might question the decision to reduce the battery size, the result is still a device that feels premium in hand, without sacrificing too much in performance or usability.
