Galaxy S25 Edge vs. S25+: Slim Sophistication or All-Round Performer?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has landed, promising premium design and flagship power. But is its $100/€220 premium over the Galaxy S25+ really justified? While both phones target slightly different users, a direct comparison reveals that design and portability may be the Edge’s only real advantage-while the Plus holds strong where it matters most.
Design & Build
The Galaxy S25 Edge is undeniably sleek-lighter, slimmer, and built with a titanium frame and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 front. It feels like a fashion-forward device that turns heads. But despite the aesthetic appeal, the Edge’s ultra-thin profile doesn’t significantly change real-world usability, especially since its protruding camera module negates much of the thinness when laid flat.
Display
No winners here-both the S25+ and Edge share identical 6.7-inch LTPO OLED displays with 1440×3120 resolution and peak brightness around 1,400 nits. Outdoors or indoors, you’ll get the same top-tier visual experience.
Battery & Charging
Here’s where things tip in favor of the Plus. With a 4,900 mAh battery vs. the Edge’s 3,900 mAh, the S25+ offers longer endurance across all categories. Charging is faster too-45W gets the Plus to 75% in 30 minutes versus 59% for the Edge at 25W. In real-world use, the Plus gives you more juice when you need it most.
Performance
Both phones use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and come with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. Benchmarks reveal minimal differences-single-digit percentage points-making this essentially a tie.
Audio
The Plus has slightly better speakers with fuller bass and louder output, likely due to its larger body. The Edge can’t quite compete in audio quality.
Cameras
The Edge features a 200MP main sensor with no dedicated zoom, relying on digital crops. The Plus uses a 50MP sensor and adds a 3x telephoto lens. Surprisingly, in daylight, both produce similar shots, and the Edge holds its own in 2x and 3x zoom thanks to pixel cropping. Autofocus on the Edge’s ultrawide camera is a nice touch. But in low light, the S25+ has the edge-pun intended-especially in zoomed video quality.
Verdict
For users prioritizing slim, luxurious aesthetics, the S25 Edge delivers-especially in markets like the US, where price differences are minor. But in Europe and India, where the S25+ is significantly cheaper, the Plus becomes a better-rounded and practical flagship. More battery, better speakers, real telephoto zoom, and faster charging-without sacrificing much in design or performance.
The missed opportunity? Many users note that the Edge’s only real weakness is battery capacity. With a silicon-carbon battery upgrade in the future, it could truly replace the Plus as the best all-around flagship in a premium chassis. Until then, the S25+ remains the better value for most buyers.
