Samsung’s iconic Galaxy S series may be heading toward a bold transformation with the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup.
Leaks point to a dramatic shift in branding and structure, marking the potential end of the familiar base, Plus, and Ultra trio. According to evidence uncovered in an internal build of One UI 8, Samsung could be preparing to launch just three models: the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Since 2020, Samsung fans have grown used to a three-tier S series: standard, Plus, and Ultra
. But starting next year, the lineup may be reimagined. Instead of keeping the traditional Plus model, Samsung appears to be introducing an Edge variant-positioned between the Pro and Ultra both in terms of features and pricing.
The S26 Pro is set to be the new entry point for flagship buyers, but its “Pro” branding suggests a step up from what the standard model used to offer-possibly reflecting a bump in specs and pricing. Meanwhile, the Edge model could take over the middle ground the Plus once held, offering a mix of performance and premium features in a slightly curved design.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra will, as always, serve as the top-tier option, expected to carry forward Samsung’s best camera hardware, display tech, and productivity features like S Pen support.
Internally, the S24 was codenamed “Eureka,” followed by the S25’s “Paradigm.” Now, One UI 8 code references “M1,” “M2,” and “M3” in place of the expected NP1, NP2, and NP3 (Next Paradigm). This change not only hints at a branding overhaul but also confirms that Samsung may be consolidating its lineup for simplicity and better alignment with Apple’s streamlined naming strategy.
While the move might feel like the end of an era, Samsung could be setting up a cleaner, more focused portfolio. Whether the Pro truly earns its name-or just sounds fancier-will depend on what Samsung packs into it. But one thing’s clear: the Galaxy S26 family won’t just be a refresh-it’ll be a rethink.
