The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is finally here, and it’s proving that Samsung is serious about its foldable lineup. Launched at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, this new foldable device packs some impressive upgrades that make it one of the most exciting entries in Samsung’s portfolio yet.
One of the most surprising things about the Z Flip 7 is that, despite all its enhancements, it’s priced at $1,100 – the same as last year’s model.
Samsung has managed to add significant improvements while keeping the price stable, which is a welcome change. The design has been refined with flat edges and rounded corners, giving the device a sleeker, more modern look.
While there were rumors about the phone being heavier, it’s actually just a little bit more substantial than its predecessor, weighing in at 188 grams. This increase is likely due to the larger battery. The Z Flip 7’s slimmed-down chassis makes it more portable than ever, with a reduced thickness of just 13.7mm when folded and 6.9mm when unfolded.
However, what really stands out is the display. The cover display has been enlarged to 4.1 inches, which is a major upgrade from previous models. It’s not just bigger, though; it’s also brighter and smoother, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. This makes the Z Flip 7 a much more enjoyable device to use, whether you’re checking notifications or using apps right on the cover screen.
The main display has also been upgraded, now measuring 6.9 inches, providing a more immersive viewing experience. This improvement makes the Z Flip 7 a serious contender against other foldable phones like Motorola’s Razr Ultra, which has been Samsung’s main rival in the clamshell category.
Another major shift for the Z Flip 7 is Samsung’s decision to use its own Exynos 2500 chipset, replacing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon. This 3nm chipset is designed to deliver better efficiency and powerful performance, making the Z Flip 7 a highly capable device for both everyday use and more intensive tasks.
While the camera setup remains largely unchanged from the previous model, the Z Flip 7 now supports 10-bit HDR video recording, which enhances video quality with better contrast and brighter colors. The camera interface also gets a new Zoom Slider, allowing for more precise control when zooming in and out during videos or photos.
Battery life sees a significant boost with a 4,300mAh capacity, which should be more than enough to get you through a full day. Although the charging speed remains at 25W, Samsung has also added DeX support, enabling a desktop-like experience when connected to a compatible monitor – a feature that’s long been requested by users.
The Z Flip 7 comes in two storage variants: 256GB and 512GB. In terms of software, the phone benefits from Samsung’s commitment to long-term support, offering seven years of software and security updates. One UI 8 brings some fresh features like Now Brief, Now Bar, and Gemini Live, which enhance the overall user experience.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is available for pre-order now at $1,100 and will be available starting July 25th. You can choose from three color options: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Coral Red, with an exclusive Mint color available only through Samsung’s website.
