The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is making waves with its impressive durability, especially when compared to its predecessor, the Fold6. While being thinner than previous models, the Fold7 has passed a rigorous folding test that proves its sturdiness. Certified by Bureau Veritas, the Galaxy Z Fold7’s display survived over 500,000 folds-an impressive 2.5 times more than the 200,000 folds the Fold6 withstood.
This means that, under normal daily use, the device could last for more than 6 years, assuming 200 folds a day!
The testing process was extensive, done over 13 days at 25°C (77°F), simulating real-world usage for years to come. The goal was to recreate the stresses a foldable device faces over time. Samsung achieved this leap in durability by combining several innovative features. The outer Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) layer is now 50% thicker, and a new high-elastic adhesive binds it to the OLED beneath, boosting recovery performance by 4 times.
Additionally, a newly designed flattening structure helps distribute shock evenly, while a strong titanium plate adds further resilience. All of these features come together to make the Galaxy Z Fold7 not just thinner, but also tougher than its predecessor, the Fold6.
In terms of longevity, users can expect a robust phone that can handle heavy use. While its display might have more than enough durability, it’s important to note that long-term factors like exposure to moisture, dust, and sunlight could still affect the overall lifespan of the device. But with Samsung’s new design tweaks, the Z Fold7 looks like it’s built to last.
