Garmin has just unveiled its latest health tracking device: the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor, designed to help you get a better night’s rest. Unlike traditional fitness trackers, this sleep band is a minimalist device that attaches comfortably to your upper arm. Its goal is to deliver in-depth insights into your sleep patterns without the need for screens or buttons.
Simply strap it on before bed, and it gets to work.
The Garmin Index Sleep Monitor features a unique, two-part design. The adjustable band, made of breathable nylon and spandex, ensures comfort throughout the night. Attached to this band is a removable puck that houses the device’s sensors. These sensors provide a range of health metrics, including an optical heart rate monitor, a blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) sensor, a skin temperature sensor, and women’s health tracking. Additionally, the monitor offers detailed sleep stage tracking and an overall sleep score, which can help you better understand your sleep quality. It also tracks heart rate variability (HRV) and breathing variations.
The data collected by the Garmin Index syncs seamlessly with your smartphone or Garmin watch via the Garmin Connect app. You can also set up a smart wake alarm, which vibrates only when you are in a lighter stage of sleep, helping you wake up feeling more refreshed. Garmin claims that the device offers up to seven days of battery life on a single charge.
Available in sizes ranging from S to XL, the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor is priced at $170/€170/£150. It’s already available for pre-order on the company’s website, with shipments expected to start within the next 3-5 weeks.
