Garmin Smartwatches to Finally Support Google Health Connect-With Some Drawbacks

Garmin smartwatch users have long waited for Google Health Connect integration-and now it’s almost here, but there’s a catch. While Google had promised during I/O 2025 that Garmin would gain support in June, we’re already in July and the feature still isn’t live.

However, there’s been movement: Garmin has updated its official support page with key details about the upcoming functionality.

Once the integration launches, Garmin Connect will allow users to sync a broad range of health and activity data to Google Health Connect. This means your Garmin smartwatch can soon share metrics like heart rate, sleep data, steps, calories burned, and more with Google’s platform. Unfortunately, the sync is one-way-data will flow from Garmin to Google, not the other way around

. So, if you’re wearing a Pixel or Galaxy Watch alongside your Garmin, don’t expect shared results or combined insights.

Here’s the data that will sync:

  • Activity Data: Calories (active and total), pedal cadence, distance, elevation gained, heart rate, speed, steps, and swimming strokes
  • Wellness Data: Body fat, calories burned, floors climbed, heart rate, sleep data, steps, step distance, and weight

But there are limitations. Some advanced Garmin metrics like running power, cadence specifics, sweat loss, and potentially blood oxygen, body temp, and HRV (heart rate variability) aren’t confirmed for syncing. Garmin has kept things vague in areas like sleep data depth, so users might not get full detail transfer to Google Health Connect.

The Garmin Venu 3 is confirmed as one of the models that will support the update once it rolls out. While there’s no exact release date, the support page update suggests the launch is imminent-most likely this month.

For now, Garmin users can look forward to broader health data integration with Google, even if some deeper metrics are left behind.
