After a long wait, iPhone users on Google Fi are finally getting an eagerly anticipated feature: visual voicemail integration directly into the iPhone’s Phone app. This update, rolling out now, will be fully available by July 2.

Previously, Google Fi users had to rely on a separate Fi app to access their voicemails, which often led to confusion due to overlapping notifications in both the Fi and iOS Phone apps.

With the new update, voicemail messages will appear exclusively in the Phone app, allowing users to manage their messages in the same place where they make and receive calls. From here, they can listen, share, and delete voicemails just like with any other carrier.

In addition, Google Fi has announced that it will phase out voicemail support in the Fi app for iOS. Users are advised to download any voicemails they wish to keep before August 13, as messages will no longer be available in the Fi app after this date. Instructions for downloading voicemails are provided through Google Takeout.

This update brings Google Fi closer to the standard voicemail experience offered by most other carriers on iPhone. The change simplifies the process by reducing the need to switch between apps just to check voicemail.

As part of ongoing improvements for Fi users, Google has also made it easier to set up Fi on iPhones, added support for international 5G in over 90 countries with select plans, and introduced data-only eSIMs for tablets. For many iPhone users, managing voicemail will now be more streamlined, with everything accessible in the Phone app.

While the change may seem minor, it aligns Google Fi more closely with other modern mobile services, making it more convenient for users who rely on voicemail.
