Google is stepping up its game for the Pixel lineup with several exciting improvements to Gboard. Code digger AssembleDebug uncovered some intriguing features in the latest Gboard Android app (version 15.5.5.766552071-beta-arm64-v8a). These features include the possibility of a new favorites list where users can save their favorite emoji combinations from the Emoji Kitchen. As a fun reminder, the Emoji Kitchen lets you mix two emojis into one often hilarious result.

This new favorites list would make it easier to access your top emoji mashups, saving time when you want to use them.

Another potential feature spotted is called ‘SmartEdit.’ This tool would allow users to edit text via voice commands, giving you the ability to add, remove, or replace specific words in real-time. It’s important to note that these edits will be sent to Google along with the editing instructions and the modified text. Since Gboard already supports voice commands, this new feature could significantly enhance the current functionality.

AI-powered Smart Reply is another Gboard feature that suggests quick responses to messages, offering contextually relevant options. However, not every Android user is fond of it. Currently, the process to disable Smart Reply involves a rather long path through the Settings menu, but Google is working on simplifying it. Soon, users might only need to go to Settings > Corrections & suggestions to disable the feature.

Additionally, there’s a rumor about an upcoming feature that will allow Pixel users to complete tasks without switching apps. For example, if a friend texts you asking for a flight number, the new Magic Cue feature would search your Gmail for the info and add it directly to your clipboard. This feature would make accessing and sharing information much faster, and it’s expected to debut with the Pixel 10 series. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold are rumored to be unveiled on August 20th and released on August 28th.
