Google Pixel 10 Series Rumored to Launch August 13, Powered by New TSMC-Made Tensor G5

Despite earlier whispers about an earlier release, a fresh leak claims the Google Pixel 10 series will launch on August 13, exactly a year after the Pixel 9 debut.

Whether superstition or strategy, it seems Google is embracing the number 13 once again.

The biggest shift this year is under the hood. The Pixel 10 series will be the first to feature the new Tensor G5 chip-built not by Samsung, but by TSMC, marking a major change in Google’s hardware strategy. This switch might bring significant improvements in performance and thermal management, areas where previous Tensor chips received mixed reviews.

Along with the new chip, Google is reportedly ditching Samsung’s Exynos modem in favor of a MediaTek modem. This decision has sparked curiosity and skepticism, but reports suggest that satellite connectivity will remain intact despite the change.

On the software front, the Pixel 10 series is expected to ship with Android 16 right out of the box. Screen enhancements are also anticipated, with a higher PWM dimming rate likely improving the visual experience and reducing eye strain.

However, not all fans are sold. Some longtime users question whether Google has learned from past missteps. Critics point to issues like underwhelming chip performance and limited global availability, hoping this year finally marks a turning point.

While the Pixel line still garners attention for its software-first approach and camera prowess, user confidence has eroded after several hardware disappointments. With the switch to TSMC and MediaTek, Google has a shot to rebuild trust-but it’ll need more than just specs on paper to do that.

If Google plays its cards right, the Pixel 10 series could be the comeback the brand desperately needs. The launch date may be familiar, but this time, expectations are anything but.
