Helldivers 2 Is Coming to Xbox Series X/S in August 2025

Helldivers 2, the intense action-packed game that was once exclusive to PlayStation consoles, is finally making its way to Xbox Series X/S on August 26, 2025. Arrowhead Games made the announcement during a brief livestream where Johan Pilestedt, the company’s chief creative officer, revealed a new trailer showcasing the game’s Xbox debut. Pilestedt mentioned that the decision to bring the game to Xbox was fueled by the overwhelming requests from players who wanted to join the fight for democracy on Super Earth. With this move, Arrowhead is responding to the demand for more reinforcements in the Second Galactic War, as Xbox players will finally be able to join the battle alongside their PlayStation and PC counterparts.

Pre-orders for Helldivers 2 on Xbox are now live, ensuring eager players can jump right into the action when the game releases. However, the game won’t be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. As Mikael Eriksson, the game’s director, shared in an Xbox Wire blog post, the team is excited to bring more players into the fold and hinted at plenty of future updates and stories for Helldivers 2. Despite the game initially launching as a PlayStation console exclusive, Arrowhead wasn’t bound to the PlayStation ecosystem, and negotiations with Xbox made it possible to expand the game to new players.

The release couldn’t come at a better time for Xbox fans, especially after a tough week for the company. Microsoft recently announced mass layoffs affecting thousands of employees across various divisions, including Xbox. Many upcoming projects were also canceled, making the arrival of Helldivers 2 a rare positive piece of news for the Xbox community.

With this addition, Xbox players will finally have their chance to dive into the chaotic, multiplayer world of Helldivers 2. Will the game become a hit on Xbox, or will it fade into obscurity? Time will tell, but for now, the fight for Super Earth continues.
