It seems like a third installment of the Hocus Pocus franchise may be on the horizon, though it’s still unclear when we’ll see it. Sarah Jessica Parker recently opened up about the potential project, revealing that Disney is still considering it. 
Appearing on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, she shared that while there have been no significant updates, the team has had ‘some conversations’ about bringing the Sanderson Sisters back for round three.
The 1993 classic, directed by Kenny Ortega, quickly became a Halloween favorite for ’90s kids. The film follows three witches, played by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Parker, who are resurrected on Halloween night and wreak havoc on the children of Salem. It became a cultural phenomenon, with its quirky humor and memorable performances.
Despite the slow-moving progress, the excitement for a third film is palpable. The return of the original trio in Hocus Pocus 2 sparked hope for more, but the follow-up left mixed feelings among fans. Parker, Midler, and Najimy all reprised their roles in the sequel, with Anne Fletcher returning as director and Jen D’Angelo as writer for the third installment, which was officially confirmed in 2023.
Even with the green light for the project, Bette Midler expressed her concerns about time running out. Speaking in a 2024 interview, she humorously stated that if Disney was going to do it, they should act fast, suggesting that time is ‘barrel-assing to the finish line.’ Fans who are still hoping for more of the Sanderson Sisters may find this advice rather fitting-after all, how much longer can the original cast keep brewing up trouble?
