Honor 400 Battery and Charging Review: Real-World Midrange Performance

Honor 400 Battery Life and Charging Speed: A Mixed Bag with Midrange Context

As we wrap up the full review of the Honor 400, we’ve already run it through our battery and charging tests – and the results are quite revealing.

The Honor 400 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and boasts a 6.55-inch OLED display. Depending on your region, it comes with either a 5,300 mAh or a 6,000 mAh battery. We tested the European model with the 5,300 mAh cell.

On the battery front, the phone scored a 12:29h Active Use Score. While this might sound okay, it actually lags behind many phones in the same segment – especially during screen-on tests like web browsing and video streaming. However, context is key here. The comparisons often place the Honor 400 next to budget flagships like the Xiaomi 14T Pro or the OnePlus 13R, which feature top-tier chipsets like the Dimensity 9200+ or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. These aren’t direct competitors in terms of price or market segment.

If we consider fairer rivals – like the Samsung Galaxy A56, Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, Motorola Edge 60 or even the Nothing Phone 3a Pro – the Honor 400’s performance looks more acceptable. All of these sit within the same midrange tier, and many of them also deal with compromises in one area or another, especially when high-resolution displays and efficient SoCs are involved.

When it comes to charging, though, the Honor 400 pulls its weight. Its 66W SuperCharge tech gets you from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes and to 100% in about 41 minutes. That’s not record-breaking, but it’s fast enough to stay competitive – especially in daily use where topping up quickly before heading out can be a game-changer.

In short, while the battery endurance isn’t industry-leading, the Honor 400’s charging speed adds real-world convenience. And when compared to peers in its price class, it delivers a decent overall package – just don’t expect flagship stamina.

Honor 400 is midrange ffs, why are we putting it against phones with 8 Gen 3 chipsets? Apples and oranges
