Honor’s upcoming foldable, the Magic V5, is stirring up excitement as it prepares to launch later this month

The rumors, coming from a tipster on Weibo, suggest the device could be available in four different finishes: Velvet Black, Snow White, Tundra Green, and an all-new Silk Gold. The first three colors are a repeat from last year’s Magic V3, but the addition of Silk Gold could elevate the phone’s premium feel, possibly giving it an edge in the crowded foldable market. While color alone won’t make or break the phone, it’s an important factor in differentiating products, especially in a market where foldables are becoming more common.
Design-wise, the Magic V5 is rumored to be impressively slim, with a folded thickness of less than 9mm, which would make it thinner than the Oppo Find N5 at 8.93mm. This could make the Magic V5 one of the slimmest foldables on the market, a notable achievement in a category where thickness is often a concern. The Magic V3 was already a solid device, offering a 5150mAh battery with 66W fast charging and wireless charging support, so it’s reasonable to expect the V5 to improve upon these features without compromising on its slim profile.
In terms of competition, the Magic V5 is set to rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is also expected to be revealed this July. However, while Samsung is expected to offer incremental updates to its foldable, the Magic V5’s bold new color and sleek design could give Honor the upper hand when it comes to initial impressions. Although Samsung is still the dominant player in the foldable space, Honor is gaining ground, especially in the thin-foldable category.
