Honor Magic V5: The World’s Thinnest Foldable Smartphone Revealed in Leaks

Leaked images have given us a sneak peek into the Honor Magic V5’s impressive slim design. The Chinese tech company recently announced that its upcoming foldable, the Magic V5, will be the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone when it launches next week.

With a folded thickness of just 8.8mm, it’s 0.1mm thinner than the Oppo Find N5, which currently holds the title of the thinnest foldable.

For those curious about how thin 8.8mm really is, well-known leaker Digital Chat Station recently shared a series of images on Weibo, showcasing the Magic V5 from various angles. These pictures give us a good idea of just how slim the device is when folded.

When the device is unfolded, however, its camera bump is actually thicker than the phone itself, which shows just how advanced Honor’s engineering is. But the Magic V5 isn’t just about being thin-it’s also lightweight, tipping the scales at just 217 grams. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighs 239 grams, the Oppo Find N5 weighs 229 grams, and the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold weighs 257 grams. So, Honor has definitely made a leap in both size and weight.

In addition to the leaked photos, more details about the Magic V5 have been making their way to Twitter from various tipsters. The foldable is expected to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It will feature a 6.45-inch cover display and an impressive 7.95-inch main screen. While rumors have circulated about the camera specs, the most recent information suggests that the Magic V5 will include a triple-camera setup, consisting of three 50MP sensors-one for the main camera, one for ultra-wide shots, and one for telephoto zoom.

For selfies, the Magic V5 will come with dual 20MP cameras, one on each side of the foldable display. The battery is another standout feature, with the Magic V5 boasting a massive 6,100mAh capacity, paired with 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support. This far exceeds what competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are rumored to offer (with only a 4,400mAh battery). Furthermore, Honor has included an IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, as well as an IR blaster, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and NFC.

The Magic V5 will officially be revealed on July 2, alongside the MagicPad 3, and we expect more details to surface in the days leading up to the launch.
