After months of anticipation, Honor has officially launched the Magic V5 in China, succeeding last year’s Magic V3. As a successor to the popular foldable, the Magic V5 is thinner, lighter, and packed with impressive features.
Before diving into our review, let’s take a closer look at the unboxing experience.
The Honor Magic V5 comes in a variety of colors: Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. Our model is the sleek Ivory White version, which stands out for being slightly thinner and lighter compared to the other models. The unfolded thickness measures just 4.1mm, and when folded, it’s 8.8mm thick. The other variants are just a bit thicker at 4.2mm and 9mm when unfolded and folded, respectively. Weighing in at 217g, the Ivory White model is 5g lighter than the other versions. In comparison, the Magic V3’s lightest version weighed 226g with a slightly thicker profile at 4.35mm unfolded and 9.2mm folded. Despite being lighter, the Magic V5 packs a larger battery: 5,820mAh compared to the V3’s 5,150mAh, and the Chinese version even offers a 6,100mAh battery option.
Under the hood, the Magic V5 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Its main folding display spans 7.95 inches, while the cover screen is 6.43 inches, offering a seamless transition from the compact exterior to the expansive foldable interior.
