Huawei is finally bringing the vanilla Pura 80 to the spotlight, but it’s arriving fashionably late.
While the rest of the Pura 80 lineup hit both Chinese and global markets in early June, this base model is just now preparing for pre-sales, starting July 23 in China.
However, don’t expect to get your hands on it that day – Huawei’s Weibo teasers suggest a pre-sale phase rather than immediate availability. The posts mention school, indicating the phone might be aimed at students preparing for the new academic year starting in September.
At the time of writing, the Huawei China product page still lacks a purchase button, and the vanilla Pura 80 is nowhere to be found on the official store listings. So far, it’s all anticipation and speculation until Huawei confirms more details midweek.
For now, leaker Digital Chat Station fills in the blanks. According to DCS, the vanilla Pura 80 will feature a Kirin 9010S chipset, differing from the more premium Kirin 9020 chips found in the Pura 80 Pro+ and Ultra models. While specs on the 9010S are scarce, the original 9010 is known to pack an octa-core Taishan CPU with hyper-threading and a Maleoon 910 GPU-respectable hardware for a mid-flagship device.
Huawei hasn’t released pricing info yet, but DCS hints that the Pura 80 could be in the ballpark of CNY 5,500 (~$765), using the Pura 70 (12/256GB) as a reference point. The Pura 80 Pro starts at CNY 6,500, so this seems reasonable for those who want the latest without going full ultra.
The device will debut with the fresh HarmonyOS 5.1 and comes in four stylish finishes: Velvet Gold, Velvet Green, Velvet White, and Velvet Black – with the green already turning heads.
The Pura 80 might be late, but it could still be a compelling choice, especially for budget-conscious buyers seeking a balance of performance, style, and HarmonyOS smoothness.
