The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra has just been unveiled, marking a major leap in smartphone camera technology. Building on the innovative Pura series, this device features a groundbreaking dual-lens periscope telephoto system. The Pura 80 Ultra’s 50MP telephoto sensor boasts an impressive 1/1.28-inch size, offering two optical zoom options: 3.7x and 9.4x, thanks to a unique movable lens mechanism.
With sensor-shift OIS, this means sharp, clear shots at both f/2.4 (83mm) and f/3.6 (212mm) apertures.
But that’s not all. The Pura 80 Ultra is equipped with a 50MP main shooter, featuring a 1-inch RYYB sensor and a variable aperture ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0, paired with OIS. Huawei claims that this sensor offers 15x better dynamic range than its predecessor, the Pura 70 Ultra, which is a massive leap in light and detail preservation. The main camera’s 16EV dynamic range is a record in the smartphone world, bringing true-to-life detail in both highlights and shadows.
In addition to the impressive telephoto and main sensors, the Pura 80 Ultra includes a 40MP ultrawide lens (13mm) and a 1.5MP multi-spectral color sensor, expanding its versatility for any photography need. Huawei has also introduced its new real-time fusion technology for video, ensuring highlight details are preserved, making this device a true powerhouse for both stills and video.
As for the display, the Pura 80 Ultra boasts a stunning 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a smooth 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It is protected by second-gen Kunlun glass and is capable of reaching a peak local brightness of 3,000 nits.
Powered by HarmonyOS 5.1, this flagship device features 16GB of RAM as standard and offers two storage options: 512GB or 1TB. A large 5,700 mAh battery supports fast charging at 100W wired and 80W wireless, and the phone is also rated for IP68/69 water and dust resistance.
The Pura 80 Ultra is priced at CNY 9,999 ($1,391) for the 16GB/512GB version, and the top-tier 16GB/1TB model costs CNY 10,999 ($1,530). Pre-orders are available in China now, with deliveries beginning on June 26.
