The Intel Core Ultra 5 245HX is making waves with its impressive performance gains compared to its predecessor, the Core i5 14500HX, especially in multi-threaded tasks. Benchmarks from PassMark show the 245HX outperforms its predecessor by a significant 38% in multi-threaded performance, a major leap in Intel’s mobile processor lineup. 
This surge in performance can be attributed to Intel’s new Arrow Lake-HX architecture, which has shown exceptional improvements over earlier models like the Core i5 14500HX.
Despite the Core Ultra 5 245HX scoring slightly lower than its desktop counterpart, the Core Ultra 5 245K, in single-threaded tests, it shines in multi-threaded performance. The 245HX scored 40,059 points in multi-threaded tests, surpassing the Core Ultra 5 245, which posted 37,930 points
. When comparing generational uplifts, the Core Ultra 5 245HX is 26% faster in single-threaded tasks and 38% faster in multi-threaded tasks than the i5 14500HX, even with six additional threads in the latter’s setup.
Although the desktop Core Ultra 5 245K is slightly faster in single-threaded performance, the 245HX’s overall performance, particularly in multi-threaded tasks, positions it as a stronger choice for demanding applications. However, it’s important to note that gaming performance is still uncertain, and we will need more benchmarks to confirm whether the 245HX can outperform the 14th-gen Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs in real-world scenarios.
As for availability, the Arrow Lake-HX processors are still not widely accessible in the market, leaving many users eagerly awaiting more concrete performance reviews. The Arrow Lake-HX lineup is expected to do well in power-constrained mobile scenarios, but only time will tell if it can truly revolutionize the mobile processor market.
