Apple is rolling out a powerful new feature in iOS 26 aimed at extending your iPhone’s battery life-say hello to Adaptive Power.
Located under Settings > Battery > Power Mode, this smart toggle fine-tunes your iPhone’s performance to make your battery last longer. By slightly dimming the screen and slowing certain processes, Adaptive Power helps stretch those remaining percentages further-ideal for long days without access to a charger.
While Low Power Mode still kicks in at 20% battery to pause background tasks like mail fetching and downloads, Adaptive Power adds a more subtle, always-on layer of efficiency. It’s part of Apple’s push to bring AI-driven battery management to iPhones.
Currently, the feature is only accessible via the iOS 26 Developer Beta. If you’re not ready to dive into the beta experience, you’ll need to wait until the public release this September.
Another notable upgrade in iOS 26 is real-time charging time estimates. Whether you’re using a cable or going wireless, your iPhone will now show exactly how long it’ll take to hit 80% and 100% during a charge session. For instance, if your iPhone 15 Pro Max is sitting at 32%, the device might display “38 minutes to 80%” and “1 hour 56 minutes to full.”
iOS 26 also brings deeper battery usage insights. Under the Daily Usage section, your phone will now show comparisons to your past battery consumption habits. You might see something like, “You’re using a similar amount of battery today as you usually do by 1:00 AM,” helping you understand your usage patterns.
While Android users-especially those on Pixel devices-have long enjoyed battery estimates, iOS 26 aims to take it a step further with Adaptive Power and more detailed feedback. With these new tools, Apple users can finally enjoy more unplugged time without the anxiety of a dying phone.
