Apple’s iOS 26 introduces a fresh new UI design dubbed Liquid Glass, first revealed at this year’s WWDC. Initially met with criticism, particularly for legibility issues and high processing demands, Apple has made notable adjustments. The redesign in iOS 26 Beta 3 was significantly toned down, failing to match the vision shown at the conference.
But with the arrival of iOS 26 Beta 4, Liquid Glass has made a comeback, closer to its original form, despite the continuing debate around it.
The bold Liquid Glass design, while still polarizing, has many fans who appreciate its aesthetic. The backgrounds within UI elements, with their reflective qualities, are certainly eye-catching. While the initial issues were valid, there’s a strong belief that this design deserves more time to prove its potential.
iOS 26 marks a major shift in the UI, reminiscent of the iOS 7 redesign from 2013. The new UI aligns with Apple’s rumored plans for the 20th anniversary iPhone Pro model, which is expected to feature a bezel-less display with curved edges, extending the screen all the way to the phone’s edges. Apple is fully invested in this new look, with reports suggesting the iPhone 17 Pro could introduce a color option inspired by the Liquid Glass design.
Despite the criticism, it’s clear Apple isn’t ready to give up on Liquid Glass just yet. With iOS 26 Beta 4, the company is demonstrating a commitment to refining the design and sticking with its innovative vision.
