iPhone 17 Air: New Resolution and Display Size Revealed in iOS 26 Beta 2

Apple enthusiasts have already started digging into the new iOS 26 beta 2, and in their latest findings, some exciting details about the upcoming iPhone 17 Air have emerged. It seems that Apple is gearing up to launch a slimmer flagship model, possibly abandoning the iPhone 17 Plus.

These details come from a careful analysis of the latest software update, which reveals some intriguing clues about the device’s display and size.

Within the iOS 26 beta 2, a fresh version of the classic clownfish wallpaper is said to display a resolution of ‘420×912@3x.’ When calculated, this resolution comes out to 1,260 × 2,736 pixels, or the same as 2,736 × 1,260-either way you look at it. What’s noteworthy is that no existing iPhone model has this exact resolution, suggesting it could be linked to the iPhone 17 Air.

Further confirmation comes from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who claims the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch display with a 2,740 x 1,260 resolution. This lines up closely with the findings in the beta, indicating that the iPhone 17 Air might indeed sport this new screen size. The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be Apple’s thinnest model ever, measuring just 5.5mm in thickness.

However, this ultra-thin design comes at a cost. The device is expected to have a modest 2,800mAh battery, which is notably smaller than usual. To address this, Apple may introduce a separate battery accessory to extend the device’s battery life.
