Details about these changes surfaced through a Weibo post from renowned leaker Digital Chat Station, who shared insights on the possible updates for the iPhone 17 series. Among these was a suggestion that the Dynamic Island could undergo a redesign, but the specifics remain unclear at this point.
Rumors about changes to the Dynamic Island began circulating late last year, initially suggesting that the changes would be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo later dismissed this, indicating that the Dynamic Island size would likely remain unchanged across the 2025 iPhone lineup.
Despite Kuo’s comments, Digital Chat Station has continued to claim that the iPhone 17 Pro Max could feature a smaller Dynamic Island. The leaker has even suggested that Apple may implement metalens technology in the Face ID system to reduce the size of the front display’s cutout.
While both sources are credible, it remains uncertain whether Apple will introduce major changes to the Dynamic Island. It’s possible that the company might adopt new technologies for Face ID, but this may not result in a noticeable change to the size of the Dynamic Island itself.
