Rumors suggest that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max could feature a larger battery than its predecessor. While the previous iPhone 16 Pro Max had a 4,685 mAh battery, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to be the first iPhone to boast a 5,000 mAh battery, marking a significant upgrade.
This is quite the leap, as flagship Android devices have often had 5,000 mAh batteries or higher in recent years, though companies like Samsung and Google have stayed around that 5,000 mAh mark.
Interestingly, Apple’s iPhone lineup has seen a gradual increase in battery capacity with each new generation, with the exception of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which actually had a slightly smaller battery than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. So, if these rumors prove true, the iPhone 17 Pro Max would be an exciting step forward in terms of battery life, potentially putting Apple on par with Android devices in this area. However, it remains to be seen whether the increased capacity will lead to longer battery life, as Apple is known for its efficiency.
It’s also worth noting that Chinese manufacturers have recently introduced new battery technologies, such as Silicon Carbon (Si/C) batteries, which have allowed them to surpass the 5,000 mAh mark. This could mean that Apple is playing catch-up to some extent, but with its track record of maximizing efficiency, this new battery size could still offer impressive performance.
