Three iPhone 17 Pro Features That Have Me Seriously Considering Upgrading

I’ve been contemplating upgrading my phone this year, and after looking at Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series, the iPhone 17 Pro has caught my eye. Despite the allure of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with its larger battery, I’m leaning toward the smaller Pro model this time around.

Here’s why.

Upgraded 48MP Telephoto Camera

One of the standout upgrades on the iPhone 17 Pro is the 48MP telephoto camera. I’ve always found myself wishing for better telephoto capabilities on my current iPhone 13 Pro Max, and it seems like this new model could finally meet my needs. With a 48MP resolution, zoomed-in shots will look way sharper. I’m particularly excited about capturing those distant moments, like a squirrel (yes, I have a soft spot for it) that I always seem to miss. Having this level of quality will also be perfect for posting on social media and impressing my followers with crisp, detailed images!

Smaller and Lighter Than the Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display, making it more compact and lighter compared to the 6.9-inch Pro Max. At 199g, it’s considerably lighter than the Pro Max, which could weigh around 230g. The Pro Max has always been attractive because of its long battery life, but I’ve grown tired of carrying such a large phone around. It doesn’t even fit into my pockets anymore! The iPhone 17 Pro offers a good balance of size and battery, so I might not miss the Pro Max as much as I thought.

Better Selfie Camera (24MP)

Selfie quality has always been important to me, especially since I’m constantly snapping pictures with my new puppy. The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to come with a 24MP front camera, a noticeable upgrade over the 12MP one in my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I’ve often noticed the selfie quality dropping in dim lighting, and I’m looking forward to sharper and clearer selfies with the new model.

The Trade-offs

The only real downside for me is the slightly reduced battery life compared to the Pro Max. However, considering that the iPhone 16 Pro already holds up well with its battery life, the Pro should meet my needs. Plus, the potential new design with a camera bump spanning across the top doesn’t bother me as much as it might for others. Once I get used to it, I’ll probably forget it’s there.

Is the iPhone 17 Pro Worth It?

Right now, it seems like the iPhone 17 Pro could be the perfect upgrade for me. The new A19 Pro chip, iOS 26, and compact design all add up to a compelling package, especially since the Pro is expected to be more affordable than the Pro Max. It’s a great choice if you want a high-end iPhone without the Pro Max’s bulk-and still get most of the Pro features.

I’m still not sure about that new design with the camera bump, but the battery life sounds good. 🤔
